Sirius/XM NASCAR Radio's "Sirius Speedway" is reporting Red Bull Racing's five-year run as a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team will come to an end on Thursday, when the last of approximately 150 employees will be laid off and the competition shop shut down, presumably for good.

After 284 Sprint Cup starts, over 106,000 competitive laps and two victories, the team informed its remaining employees this week that Thursday will be the final day of operation. A memo was distributed by the team's Human Resources Manager outlining severance procedures and establishing a schedule for exit interviews.

After a brief team meeting &. the team will raffle off sheet metal, mementos and photos that have hung at the Red Bull shop and distribute cases of Red Bull to departing employees. "We know it will be a difficult day for everyone," said the memo, "as a large number of employees will be exiting the facility."

Red Bull to shut down on Thursday

Yeah and Dead Bull threw Allmendinger under the bus. AJ did a decent job for them considering that he went straight from open wheel to Cup racing. He didn't even have the benefit of driving in ARCA or Nationwide like Scott what's his name. It is a shame about all of the people losing their jobs but I'm glad to see Dead Bull gone.

Red Bull to shut down on Thursday

I'm surprised by this. Red BUll have sunk a ton of money into a whol bunch of different sports, other race teams, X games, soccer to name a few. I wonder if they are pulling otu of others or just NASCAR as they are not getting the exposure they expected. The article doesn't say if they will continue to sponsor cars from other teams, but I don't see them totally pulling out of sponsoring sports.

As for handing out Red Bull as employees leave - Wow, maybe they get a dime a can or something.

Red Bull to shut down on Thursday

Brian Vickers has been with the tam since its inception.  Kasey Kahne drove with the team this year also.  Brian developed blood clots during the 2010 season and was backed up by a handful of drivers.  Allmendinger was also with the team in the beginning.
